I like to stay one step ahead of the game so that way I can start to prepare for my auditions in January/February as soon as the shwp I am currently in It's A Wonderful Life ends on December 9th.
I will be auditioning for theree shows for local theatre companies.. if you have been in any of these shows and are somewhat more familar with the show and could shoot an idea of a character that would fit my voice range that would be great or what songs I could use for my audition that would be much appreciated. The sooner I start to research audition songs the better.Voice Range:
Meet Me In St Louis ( For this show i am auditioning for ensemble) Audition dates have not been announced yet. This show is honestly not an A List priority show for me to be in and has limited appeal to me. I've been in shows with this company (my towns community group) for 2 years and really love working with everyone they have become like a family to me. At the very least if I end up deciding not to audition for this I will help out backstage
Company Audition Dates

TBA but sometime in late January/ early February Current Mood: contemplative

Hey all! I'm planning on auditioning for RENT in January (it's a local theatre production). The audition notice says "Please prepare 16 bars of a pop, rock, R&B, gospel, or contemporary musical (1990 or later) number that best demonstrates vocal range and ability."
Annnnd I have no clue what to sing. :P I'm an alto with a bit of a belt, and I've never been in a musical before (I have had singing lessons, however). I'd love to be a part of it in any way possible--the ensemble's fine by me!
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. :)
So, here's the situation. I plan on auditioning for three shows in the upcoming year, but I have no idea where to start. I'm auditioning for The Drowsy Chaperone, The Wizard of Oz and Sweet Charity. No particular roles in mind. Just want to be involved. I have a low mezzo range and most recently was cast as Mimi in RENT. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Looking to sell monologue books
If this is not allowed, please let me know and I'll remove the post.
I have a rather large collection of monologue books and I'm looking to make a bit of space on my bookshelves by getting rid of a few. I'd prefer to just make one mailing, so if anyone is interested, I will let you have all of them for $20, so you'd be saving $46. It seemed easier to ask here than to hope for the best on ebay. Included are:

For Women: More Monologues They Haven't Heard, by Susan Pomerance

I'm auditioning for a Flash Mob A Cappella Group starting in Austin.
think something like this but with singing instead...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EYAUazLI9k
2 song audition......a hymn they picked and 1 *I* need to pick
Anyone got any ideas??
So far I've come up with "Adelaide's Lament" from Guys and Dolls. I figured it's funny and not super music driven and hopefully not something they would have heard multiple times before me.
ANY suggestions would be MORE than appreciated!!!!
I haven't auditioned in over a decade and to say I'm nervous would be a HUGE understatement!
Thanks in advance and I'll let you know if I make it in!

monologue for comedy
I'm auditioning for a play in August called Half and Half by James Sherman and I need a comedic monologue. I'm 21, and I'd like to get the part of the teenage daughter in the show (I look young, so).
I'm generally cast as the quirky ingenue type in dramas, or the funny mean girl in comedies. I know this is early, but I'd like to get a head start on preparing for the audition.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! :) Current Mood: calm

2010-11 Season auditions
Hi guys! So, in two weeks I'm going to audition for my city's theater's 2010-2011 musical season. For the audition, I need two contrasting songs, and I think I'm going to go with If I Loved You for one of the songs. I'm stuck as to what song I should choose for my other selection though. I was thinking a more upbeat or fast-tempo song for an alto voice, but I guess I'm open to upbeat soprano songs too (I'm normally a first soprano but I can go all the way down to baritone). If anybody has any suggestions, I would love to hear them. I can't do anything super "grown-up" though because I'm only 15 and 5 feet (I could probably pass as a 12 year old haha).
The shows picked this season are Hairspray, White Christmas, The Drowsy Chaperon (Probably can't do this show haha), Hello Dolly, Nine (Can't do this one either =P), and Cats for the mainstage. For the children's stage they are doing A Year With Frog and Toad, Seussical Jr., and Junie B. Jones. I can't sing songs from any of these shows.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks!

I'm going to be auditioning for the musical Nunsense! and am hoping to be cast in the role of Sister Mary Amnesia.
Can anyone recommend a good audition song? I'm usually pretty good at coming up with something reminiscent of the character I want to play without being too obvious, but this time I'm drawing a bit of a blank.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Annie Get Your Gun!
This is one of my FAVORITE musicals! I know the director very well; I'm in one of his musical theater classes. My voice teacher said I would be PERFECT for something like AGYG, and I think the director of the show agrees. Plus, I was Little Jake in middle school. :)
I'd LOVE to get Annie Oakley, but I'm afraid I might look too young. Does anyone think I could also go for Winnie? I'm 5 feet tall, but I'm a redhead! Here's what I look like (obviously if I was going for Annie I'd lose the pearls! XD):http://courtneywashington.webs.com//photos/null/headshot%20-%20queen.bmp
Here's the strange thing though: even though it's an Irving Berlin musical, they want us to sing a R&H piece. I'm more worried about the fact that I have to do a monologue though. I have trouble finding them as it is, especially one that fits this kind of show. Something with the right kind of regional dialogue would be GREAT! Thanks so much guys!!! ^^

I don't know if anyone is still checking this, but I want to audition for 'Alice in Wonderland'. I need two contrasting monologues not from that show, but that would help me get in that show! I would not likely be considered for Alice, but for any other part.

oh god oh man oh auditions!
I'm auditioning for a show and a concert (the concert's just for the hell of it and because I can) on April 17th. They want 16-32 bars of a ballad and a monologue. The show is Songs For a New World
and the concert...well, it's a Sondheim concert (see what I mean about auditioning for the hell of it?).
I'm a short and petite alto with a strong mix and a low belt, and who can hit high C. I'm not really sure what my character type in a musical would be, since up until now, I've only done plays. This is really just for the experience, but it would be nice to get cast.
What song should I pick, and what monologues do you suggest? Thanks so much in advance. <333333

Hi guys! I need some serious help here. I'm auditioning for Jerry Springer the Opera in a couple weeks...I know pretty much nothing about the show...I'm a mezzo, tall, dark and character-actress type. I'm classically trained and can fumble my way through an aria or belt out Defying Gravity while on a drunken stoll. What should I sing? I need one comedic musical theatre piece and one "legit." it's the "Legit" that worries me, since I don't really know what that means...so... help?

It's that time of year again...
I'm auditioning for my local theatre's summer season, and this year I want to be in a musical. Luckily for me, they're doing three: Rent, Annie, and Little Shop of Horrors. The breakdown for Rent says songs from the show are allowed, but the other two don't say anything on the matter.
Should I go with a song from Rent? If not, what would you recommend? (I'm a soprano, shooting for Maureen, maybe Mimi as a long shot.) I'm also open to suggestions for the other shows.
Thanks in advance!

I am going to be auditioning for a production of hair fairly soon and for the life of me cannot decide what to sing; they want 16 bars of an uptempo song from the 60S/70's era.
Any suggestions of what I should sing?
I am a male bass baritone/baritone
Thanks for any help

Does anyone have the music to Adelaide's Lament from Guys and Dolls? I have the vocal part, but want to practice with the accompaniment as well. I know it's available on musicnotes but I don't have a credit card. If anyone has it that you could email it to me - or if you know of a website that has it recorded so that I could listen - that would be great. :)
